What’s on Your Screen?

From time to time I come across something surprisingly beautiful or interesting during the process of creating. I press cmd+shift+4 on my keyboard and take a screenshot. Some days ago I stumbled upon the folder on my computer where all these shots are saved. Here’s a little selection…

It feels a bit like scrolling through a forgotten sketchbook found on the attic… or reading in an old diary. There’s so many ideas and sketches that get filtered in the daily business but still are worth keeping. With the help of my screenshot folder I was able to recover some of them.

Do You have such a folder to save Your screenshots? OSX Lion usually saves the screenshots on the desktop. When I was still working on Leopard/Snowleopard I had a special ‘screenshots’ folder. Back then I used a helpful program called xMod to change the standard .png setting to .jpg and set the output directory to the folder I created. I don’t know such a tool on OSX Lion, yet. Suggestions anyone? How do You guys keep Your screenshots organized? (Feel free to answer in Your native language.)

  1. Öffne das Terminal und tippe folgende Zeile ein:
defaults write com.apple.Screencapture location /Users/benutzername/Speicherort/; killAll SystemUIServer
